I found out a couple of days ago that I won the grand prize drawing at the recent AAA travel show: a seven day cruise Feb. 20 - 27 on the Royal Caribbean line. It is free, except for the airfare to the starting place--San Juan, Puerto Rico. It stops at some wonderful places, so we decided to go: St. Thomas, St. Croix, Dominica, St. Kitts, and Barbados.
We are both really excited about the trip. This will be our first cruise--and a relatively free one, at that. Sunday we leave for a week at the Isle of Palms (near Charleston), so we will be having a sunny time this winter.
Alan is playing with Houser and Company at Machiavelli's in Bristol tonight. They are a fun, talented group, and I really enjoy listening to them. I'm not too keen about getting out of the cozy house on a rainy night, but I will because I like the music and watching Alan play. This afternoon he was practicing a great Paul Simon tune that had a wonderful beat. I always go to these gigs separately; that gives me the option to show up at the starting time and leave whenever I want to. I hope that some of the other "wives" are there. Being a 66 year old woman alone in a bar can get strange sometimes.
P.S. the next day: It went fine; I saw some people I knew and hung out with them. The band sounded great.
Note on how to comment: The easiest way is to use "Anonymous" from the drop-down choices. That way, you don't have to have any of the types of accounts listed. You can just sign your name to the anonymous post, and people will know who you are.
