DonnaMarie wears a wonderful hat!

We had a great whirlwind trip to Lexington on Saturday. We went to the races at Keeneland with our friends Doug and DonnaMarie. It was a beautiful day, although it actually got quite warm. Many of the women were wearing fantastic hats and masochistic stiletto heels. It never ceases to amaze me the agony some women will go through in the name of fashion.
There was a huge crowd because of one of the races was a pre-Derby event. There were over 33,000 people there. After the first two races, it was impossible to get to the windows to bet. That saved us a lot of money, probably. The crowd included lots of very seriously drunk young people--UK students, I assume. Alan commented that he didn't realize he was going to a kegger.
I hadn't been to Keeneland in many years, so it brought back memories of many horse races that I have attended in the past. When I was an undergraduate at UK, the trotting track, The Red Mile, was right next to the university. We used to go there a lot.
