Weekend fun/Election not fun

How do you like my great hairdo?

Weekend Fun:
We went on our annual fall "camping" trip with our friends Rick and Doreen last weekend to Hungry Mother State Park, near Marion, VA.   Because we planned it for so late in the season, we wisely reserved a cabin. It was cold and snowy, but we were toasty next to the fireplace in the evenings.  We bundled up for hiking, so all was well on that count, also.  We had a great time--hiking to Molly's Knob at the park on Saturday and on the Creeper Trail on Sunday.

Election Thoughts:
I am sad because Nathan Vaughn, the candidate we worked so hard for, lost.  Rick Boucher's loss in the 9th District of Virginia is stunning.  Boucher and Vaughn have worked so hard for the good of the people.  It amazes me that people forget so soon and are so short-sighted--seeing only the latest distorted hate ad.  I find the buying of this election by the special interests to be terribly disturbing.  The Supreme Court has sold our country to the highest bidder by allowing unlimited ads by anyone who can come up with the money.  Our democracy is at risk because people believe the tripe they hear, without checking to see what is fact and what is fantasy.

I am experiencing a wide swing in emotions after reading your blog today. A soaring happy heart looking at the pictures and reading the story of your weekend trip. Then down, down, down into the despair that follows knowing the truth that you spoke about in the last part of the post. UUUGGGG!

Thanks for both equally, Love Susie

Beautiful trip, you two! Thanks for sharing the pictures! Of course, while it makes one chilly to look at the snow, it also makes one want to put on a jacket, use a transporter from Star Ship Enterprise, and join you there!
And yes. Indeed this election was a very sad affair. It appears that the liars, twits, and the obscenely rich are the only ones who won with the great majority of people stupidly shooting themselves and the rest of the country in the foot. We really need another 'Give 'em Hell Harry" to tell it like it is, and give these conservative 'pundits' a kick where it hurts: in the facts!
