Mystery Solved

For many years, whenever I would plant a new perennial in the flower beds, I would put the little plastic marker from the florist pot, so I would remember what I had.  That way, I wouldn't accidentally pull up a plant I wanted when I did my weeding.  For some reason, the markers kept disappearing.  I never thought too much about it, figuring that I had raked them up with the leaves in the fall.  I was musing about the mystery at lunch the other day, when Alan suddenly went, "Oh, oh!  Were they little dinky plastic things?"  It turns out that he had been carefully "throwing away the trash in the flower beds" whenever he mowed the grass.  He had been helping out that way ever since we got married.  I laughed until I cried.  Obviously, I need to invest in some more attractive plant markers.

On to other things:
Note:  The video looks better if you don't look at it full screen.
The wild phlox in the back yard is still looking pretty.  If you are around our neighborhood in the next week, stop by to see it. It won't last long in this heat.  It has naturalized into the entire wooded area in back of our house.  The video doesn't show the colors as brightly as they are, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.

Alan has been out in the brutal sun working on our deck, getting it ready to repaint.

oh, oh I guess 58 years isn't a bad run before my collective mishaps catch up with me.
