We spent several days in Franklin, NC, celebrating our 20th anniversary. We stayed at the Wayah Creek Cottages, where we had the cabin with a heart-shaped rock in the fireplace. The setting of the cottages was wonderful, with beautiful gardens next to the creek. The landscaping was incredible.
One day we hiked on the Appalachian Trail on Wayah Bald. There the flowers were gorgous, also-- large areas of flame azaleas and mountain laurel. Of course, the views were beautiful, also.
If you decide to go to Franklin, we can give you advice on other great hikes, and a fantastic restaurant we discovered.

I couldn't be more proud if I had gotten it myself. I'm so glad you have been recognized for the years of hard work and love you have put into the collage and the community.
I know that your family is just as proud as I am. Way to go, my friend! I'm sending you a verbal hug, since I'm not there to give you one in person... along with much love, Cheryl
Happy Anniversary!
Beautiful shots of the environment...but a picture of the cottage appears missing? Or did you guys forego the cottage in favor of ye olde canvas walls? ;^)
We did stay in a cottage, but I just didn't put in a picture of it. The cottages were nice, but unremarkable, compared to the flowers and gardens. I try not to bore people by putting in too many pictures.
My parents lived in Franklin for only a few months several years ago. A sweet little town as I remember -- I kind of wish they had chosen to stay there. At the time it was a "dry" locality but there was a sort of speakeasy place downtown that served beer. Technically they weren't allowed to charge for it, but you could make a voluntary "donation" on being served and that made it legal. (Since then they've legalized drinking.)
