Crazy Weather Pictures and Florida Questions

Florida Questions:

Alan and I are going to Florida in March to visit my brother and sister-in-law in Port Charlotte.  We are bringing our camping gear, and we plan to camp, bird watch, walk on the beach, and sightsee our way back to Tennessee.  So we would like some advice.  As far as I can tell, it is OK to use the comments section of the blog now.  I may have to approve of the comment before it comes into view, though, so don't worry if it doesn't appear right away.

  1. Has anyone been to Epcot recently?  Neither Alan nor I have been there, and we are thinking about going.  What would you recommend?
  2. We want to see manatees.  We understand there is a manatee preserve at Blue Spring State Park near Orange City.  Has anyone  been there?  Are there other good places to see manatees that you know about?
  3. Has anyone used state park camping on the Gulf coast in Florida in March?  Would we need reservations?  I know that we can always call, but usually they tell you to get reservations, no matter what.

Crazy weather the last few weeks:

We had eight + inches of wet snow, but the crocus came up anyway.

We had an ice storm.  Notice ice on cardinal's tail.

When we had the wet snow, our power was out for three days.  This was Alan's in-house attire--showing off his new Christmas gloves from Andy.  Actually, we were quite cozy, thanks to a roaring fire in the fireplace that Alan kept going.  We just went into camping mode--using our Coleman stove, fuzzy clothes, and down.

We had temps near 70 a couple of days ago, and we had thousands of crocus blooming in our back yard and woods.

Now, we are back to cold weather again.  The high is only supposed to be in the 20's, and we had a dusting of snow last night.

We really enjoyed EPCOT, especially Soarin', the Japanese drummers, the belly dancer, the American singers, the Canadian exhibit/theater, the mime. Get your tickets early for Soarin' - we always go back at least once! Love the fireworks too, but then I'm a fireworks junkie! I'll see if I can remember anything else!
