We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Columbia, SC, where my nephew Paul and his family recently moved. He has retired from the Army and has taken a professorship at the University of South Carolina. Paul and Marta are fantastic hosts who are so welcoming to friends and family. My brother Loren and his wife Edith were there, also, so it was a most enjoyable time with family.

Alan and I both read a great book recently. It is rare that we both love the same book--so this is a dual recommendation. Ordinary Grace, by William Kent Krueger. It is a compelling coming of age/mystery novel, which won the Edgar Award recently. It would be good for a book club, too. I will warn you: don't start it unless you have time to sit and finish it! Our Christmas tree is still undecorated because we were both so engrossed in this book!

The part about the book is so funny! Glad the tree was decorated when we got there! It was beautiful.
