Happy Dance!
After weeks of hard work getting our house ready to market, the listing went live at midnight Tuesday night. At 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, the first person who looked at it gave us a full price offer. We didn't accept it immediately because there were SEVEN showings on Wednesday and 11 lined up for today. As of right now (Thurs. at 1 p.m.), there are five offers. The realtor said that we may break his record for the number of showings and number of offers in one day! The realtor has sent a multiple offer notice to all of them, asking for their final offer by midnight tonight. So we may actually wrap this up in three days! We are astonished, to say the least. I think a lot of the credit goes to the photographer, who took great pics, and to the careful thought we (mostly I) put into the staging. All those hours of watching HGTV have apparently paid off!
In the meantime, we are happily ensconced in our camper at Rocky Top Campground in Blountville, Site #3, where we expected to be for weeks. (If we have a contract soon, we may move back home until the closing.) We have been looking constantly for a place in Johnson City, but nothing has worked out for us yet. We want to be sure all the main living space is on one level, close to downtown/the university, and not in need of a lot of work, so we have a lot of expectations that may make it difficult to find something. If our present house goes to closing before we find something, we can always store our furniture for a while and move back to the trailer.
The other good news is that the apartments that Alan and his sisters inherited from his dad have sold (same realtor), and the closing on them is tomorrow. After that, we are going to a hotel in Black Mtn., NC for three days with Susie and Ed to relax and celebrate. Black Mtn. is near Asheville, so there are wonderful things to do in that area. Susie found a pet-friendly hotel that will accept Shelby, so she is going on the adventure, too. It will be very good to relax after such a frenzy of activity for weeks.
