Update: November 1, 2021:

We got back yesterday from a rainy, windy, chilly week at Watauga Dam Campground, which is a Tennessee Valley Authority facility very near to us.  The campground is right on the water between the Wilbur Dam and the Watauga Dam.  Whenever they would let water out of the dam, a siren would sound to warn boaters, but the rise was always gentle when we were there. Lots of fisherfolks in kayaks and rowboats, as well as people fly fishing.

Enjoyed fall color everywhere

Nice reflection in the water

One of our neighbors was an avid fly fisheman.

All the sites are waterfront.

Nice tree on our site

Above pictures were taken on one of the few sunny days we had.  Several days we had drenching rain and howling winds.  We've never experienced wind gusts that violently shook the trailer, flapped the cover over the slide so much we were concerned it would tear, and caused the awning to automatically retract. (We kept the awning in most of the time when it was storming, but the automatic retraction came on a day when there was a freak sudden gust.)

One day we went up to the Watauga Dam Overlook.  It has an enclosed building that used to be open all year long.  The Appalachian Trail goes nearby. When we first got married, Alan would do a solo winter backpack each year, no matter what the weather was.  I remember picking him up here one bitterly cold January day.  He was fine, having had a fun time.

Shelby kept us company, as usual. She can snooze anywhere, apparently, even on the table.

We will be winterizing the trailer soon to keep the pipes from freezing, so we won't be traveling in it until Christmas, when we will go to Huntsville. Paul and Marta have invited us to Columbia for Thanksgiving, so we will be back to our pre-Covid traditions with them.

On to other things:

I put our above ground pool, including all the stuff with it, on Facebook Marketplace as a free item.  It caused an avalanche of responses.  I gave it to the first person who said they would come and get it that day.  So now we are dealing with a deck to nowhere that used to surround the pool and the space in the back yard where the pool was. Alan is dismantling the deck, and the space where the pool was will be a stone courtyard by mid-December. We have contracted with Atta Boy Landscapers to do the entire back in stone pathways and a large stone courtyard.  They will also redo the retaining wall next to the driveway that is failing, so this will be a very big and expensive project.  But when done, we won't have to worry about those areas ever again--we hope!

Alan has made good progress on dismantling the deck.
This is where the courtyard will be.

This large deck overlooking ravine will remain.
Pool deck  and rain barrel on left side of picture will be gone.
The large posts are for the screened porch, above the area.

I have recently realized that I have had some hearing loss, so I am in the process of deciding what type of hearing aids I will get.  If any of you have experience with brands and types of hearing aids, please let me know your thoughts.  I am going to research this carefully.  I want to be sure to get some that I will be happy to use.  So many people get hearing aids and never use them for some reason or another.
