Christmas 2021

Happy holidays to our dear friends and family.  We do not send cards to those who get this blog, so this is our greeting to each of you.  Hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

We will be heading to Huntsville for the holidays, taking the trailer so that Shelby can go with us.  We stay at Monte Sano State Park, which is not far from where Alan's sister Charlotte and her husband Harry live.  His sister Susie and her husband Ed from Atlanta will join us. We will be able to spend time with nephews and their families, including a new grand nephew we haven't met yet. It is always so much fun to be with Alan's extended family. They are wonderfully warm and loving.

Even though we will be gone, we still put up decorations.  We leave them up until January, so there is plenty of time to enjoy them.

Icicle lights and garland on fence in front of house.

Shelby got in the wreath before I got it ready to put up.
Nothing wrong with her eyes, just the flash.
Shelby loves the tree.  She hides in it and sleeps under it.

The tree is so tall Alan uses a ladder to decorate the top

Work on the retaining wall on side of house and stone path/courtyard area in back of the house has been going on for weeks.  The retaining wall is almost finished.  They just need to do backfill behind the wall and plant grass seed on our neighbor's side yard, which has been completely torn up with their heavy equipment.   The workmen have been amazing, very reliable and hard working.

This will be a stone pathway in back of house,
next to the gulch.

It's a mess right now because they are
removing a concrete sidewalk.
Eventually, this will be a stone courtyard.

We are starting to go out more since we both have had the Covid vaccine, plus booster.  Our area is still scary because so many people refuse to get the vaccine.  Because of that, we both wear masks whenever we are around lots of people.  I hope that you, also, are vaccinated and are being careful.

Thanks to all the people who gave me advice about hearing aids.  It is much appreciated.  I will be working with the ETSU Audiology folks, using their "Flex Plan" to try out a couple of possibilities before I make the plunge and buy one.

Our guest quarters in the basement is now basically finished.  It has a king-sized bed, kitchenette, fold out couch, and TV.  So YOU are invited to come to visit us.  Just wait until the back yard is no longer a wreck!  The yard is always pretty in the spring.
