Health Care
I stayed up late last night, watching the exciting health care vote in the House of Representatives. I wish that the public option hadn't been soundly defeated by the insurance lobby, party politics, and people who have fear of change. However, something is better than nothing, I guess. I am very disappointed that Virginia's Boucher caved to the pressure and voted against it. At the gym today, there was lots of yelling at the TV about it. This area is so conservative; it sometimes makes me feel like I'm from another planet. The tea partiers yelling epithets at John Lewis and Barney Frank made me sick to my stomach. Such ignorance and hatred is beyond understanding. My only hope is that all the people who now have insurance who didn't have it before will come out in droves to support the party that helped them get it. It drives me crazy to think that no Republicans had the guts to really work on this bill and help it be a good bi-partisan effort. I fear for our democracy when our legislators care more about party politics than they do about the well-being of the millions of people who have gone without health care for so long.

Totally agree. I heard a conservative radio commentator say, "I don't know what is in the bill, but I'm sure I don't like." Unfortunatly, that seems to be the stance of many of the GOP.
I appreciate your response. Maybe I'm not as alone on this as I thought!
