Summer Stuff

The wild phlox in the back yard are blooming. It is always such fun to see the hundreds of blossoms that I don't have to do anything to make happen. The above picture is phlox in back of a fern and some impatiens that I did plant.

We are in the last throes of planning for our month-long trip out west. We leave Friday for a family reunion in Kansas. Then, we go on to North and South Dakota, Yellowstone, and the Tetons. We are going to be camping most of the time, once we leave the Badlands, where it is beastly hot right now. (I opted for a lovely cabin there.) We are taking Alan's truck, so the back will be filled with hot weather and cold weather camping gear, as well as our backpacking stuff. We are hoping to get in some backpacking while we are at Yellowstone and the Tetons. The reason that we will need cold-weather gear is that it is usually in the 30's at night at Yellowstone. They have had snow every month of the year there.

It has been hot here--in the 90's, which is unusual for us, so cool weather in the mountains sounds really nice right now.

I love the Tetons and Yellowstone. Remind me sometime to tell you my Teton story. I can't wait to hear yours. Guess I'll just have to call you when you get home. ;o) I'll be thinking about you and wishing I was there. I know you will have a wonderful time.
Warm hugs and much aloha, C ;o)
