Rhoda, this was so touching. Made me tear up! You are such a special person, and I've always admired your willingness to help others. The patience you have is amazing. I miss you here at MECC. There will never be another one like you!!

Dennis is much like many of the students I had at MECC, although he started out at a much lower level. When he first came to the Literacy Council, all he could do was sign his name. Now, he reads at about the 3rd grade level. It is such a delight to work with such an intelligent, motivated, grateful person. (He genuinely thanks me every time we work together.) Working at the Literacy Council allows me all the joys of teaching reading, without the hassle of having to grade papers until midnight, driving two hours a day to BSG, and working under deadlines. However, I really do miss the students and staff at MECC. It is the one bad thing about retirement. I wish I could see all my friends there more often.
Just another example of why you are and always have been one of my favorite people. Friends / family forever. Love, warm hugs and much aloha.

You're an inspiration, Aunt Rhoda! More of us should follow in your footsteps!
As an aside, I was really touched by the card you sent after your visit this summer. (Great picture of you and Alan on the card, by the way!) We always thoroughly enjoy our visits with you!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Rhoda, just saw the clip. Reminds me again of how good a person you are; really good person.

Beautiful fall pictures. Our fall didn't seem as beautiful as other years. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
