October trip to Franklin, NC with Rick and Doreen

We did our annual fall hiking trip with Rick and Doreen in October.  We stayed at the Wayah Cottages near Franklin, NC, again.  Franklin is one of our favorite places to go and to hike.  It is a really beautiful area in the mountains. We didn't have as good an experience with the cottages as we did in May.  The fireplace wouldn't draw for some reason, so we ended up smoking up the cabin and spending several hours looking at the stars at night while the smoke cleared.  The stars were lovely since we were so far from town, but it was chilly.

On Saturday, we went to Wayah Bald, which I have posted pictures on before.  You can go to my May posting to see them.  It is a place so wonderful, we love going back there.  On Sunday, we hiked the Rufus Morgan Trail, which has a nice waterfall.
