Tally Ho!

For several years now, Alan and I have been trying to find a reasonable, used trailer or motor home, so we can travel for more extended times in greater comfort.  I hit 70 this year, and crawling in and out of tents and dealing with rainy/cold weather isn't so much fun anymore. On Sunday, I saw a want ad that looked perfect for us:  2008 Freedom Lite trailer, and the price was about half of what others exactly like it were being offered on the internet.  The owner lives in Florida but had the trailer for month-long trips to TN to visit relatives each summer.  All they used it for was the month here, and it was parked the other 11 months.   We made them an offer today, and they accepted!

Unfortunately, the trailer is too heavy for Alan's truck to pull, so we are going to have to get an eight cylinder vehicle with a tow package.  We are thinking of  getting a used SUV and selling Alan's truck.  So if any of you know of a good used SUV that is for sale, let us know. A different truck is a possibility, also--as long as it has the extended cab, with a second row of seats for passengers.

We will actually take possession of the trailer in two weeks, giving us time to find a place to store it and a vehicle to tow it.  (Our house lot doesn't have the space to put the trailer.)  So we are also taking recommendations on RV storage facilities.

In the pictures below, you can see that the trailer has a slide in the back.  The trailer is 18 1/2 feet long with the slide in, and 23 feet long with the slide out.  It has a queen bed in the slide and bunk beds in the front, plus everything needed for full-time living.

Sofa, dining area, and queen bed, with slide out
(I assume (hope) the horse quilt goes away with the present owners.)
It has a nice awning and great air conditioning
View of kitchen and bunks, which are being used for storage
Open door is to bathroom
Trailer with slide extended
Nice-sized appliances, plus a pantry
We are both so excited and happy about this! We have visions of being gone for months at a time, while we explore places we've wanted to visit for years.  Most of you know that I spent 13 months traveling around the US in a motor home in 1979-80.  It was a fantastic experience. There are so many places I would like to go back to again to see with Alan, plus places I've not been to that are on my life list.
