Imagination Library 10th Anniversary

On August 28th, the Sullivan County Imagination Library (SCIL) and its funding partner the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF) had a "10th Birthday Bash" at the Bristol Motor Speedway.  The GBBF has a bus that is touring around the state to celebrate a decade of the Imagination Library in Tennessee. (Tennessee is the only state that has the Imagination Library in all of its counties.)  We had a program to honor our local donors and volunteers, with certificates given out by surprise guest First Lady Crissy Haslam, who is a huge supporter.  I was able to chat with her after the program.  Alan was there as the official photographer, so here are pictures:

We got to drive on the track for a ways to get to the infield.
I have been on the Board of Directors of the Sullivan County Imagination Library since I retired in 2009.  Most of you know that I spend a lot of time with the organization, which provides free books mailed monthly to all registered preschool children in the county.
