Apartment Story

As most of you know, Alan manages a small apartment complex that his father owns.  He often has wacky tenants, but this story is one to share:
One tenant wouldn't buy a stamp to send his rent check; he would scotch tape coins to the corner of the envelope.  For months, the post office has been patiently sending through these letters--sometimes with the money still taped to the corner, although the envelopes were always mangled by getting caught in their machinery.

This month, the post office had had enough, so they returned the letter to the tenant after taking off the money so that it wouldn't mess up their equipment again.  It is at that point that the tenant called Alan to complain that the post office had not only "stolen" his money, they had also refused to mail the letter.

At that point Alan had had enough also, so I heard him say the following:
"Anthony, you will have to go to the post office, buy a stamp, and put it on the letter.  That is the way they do things there.  In fact, that is the way they have been doing things since the 1700's."

Today, we got his rent check with a stamp in the corner.  I guess he just needed better instructions!

With intelligence and knowledge like that, that tenant MUST be a Tea Party member. He certainly is idiot enough to be! :^) I love Alan's answer! Terrific. I can just hear him saying that too in that fine Tennessee matter-of-fact drawl of his. Much laughter and applause from here!

Glad you enjoyed the story. I thought it was funny, too. That is why I put it in the blog.
