Hosta and Renovation Plans

The beautiful hostas that the former owner planted are blooming both in front of house and in the side yard.  I thought you might enjoy seeing them.

We have been working on the renovation plans for the last few weeks.  When we bought this house, we knew that it needed cosmetic work on the interior.  Their taste was definitely not our taste, particularly in paint colors, and the kitchen needs updating.  Hopefully, it will be fun--making it our house. We have found a great contractor who did beautiful work on a neighbor's house, and Friday we met with a decorator who will help with ideas for updating the kitchen, den, paint colors, etc.  If all goes well, we will start work on it late in August.

We are adding a kitchen island, so did a cardboard cutout of the outline to lay on the floor to see if it would work in that space. This delighted Shelby, who has scratched large holes in it.

Alan is very excited about his large new workshop space in the garage. It is something he has wanted for decades, so that is another thing that made this house what we wanted.  Large saws have been appearing.

We are far from settled, but that is fine.  Boxes in corners and in the garage don't bother us!  We were going to a birthday dinner yesterday evening, and Alan had to root through the piles of things still in the garage in order to find his long pants.

Really enjoying living in Johnson City, where there is so much more to do.  It is fun taking advantage of it.

Lana the trailer is still languishing in storage in Kingsport.  We have space for it on the long, steep driveway next to the house, but Alan hasn't had a chance to get it over here yet.  We probably won't take a trip in it until the renovations are over in the fall, so there is no rush on that, either.
