Pool Opening

Our little floating pool, pic taken from upper deck

Even though it wasn't something we really wanted, our new house came with a small pool, about 4' deep and big enough for three people to float around on a float like you see in the picture.  Getting it functional ended up being quite a chore for Alan, mostly because we got bad advice from the former owners.  They said it was easy, "Just set it and forget it."  They had done the setting (we thought), so we did the forgetting in the turmoil of moving.  That all came to a halt when we realized that we had a green pond under the solar blanket.  This then became a quest for Alan--how to figure out what was wrong, learn how to use the equipment and chemicals, and get it functional again.  So two visits from pool "doctors" to fix stuff, plus many trips to Dave's Waves later, Alan was successful.  (I accused him of having an affair with Mandy at Dave's Waves; he was there so often for advice, water testing, and chemicals.)

Today we celebrated the success of his quest by having our first float in the pool.  It is absolutely wonderful, very relaxing and fun.  If/when you come to visit, be sure to plan to enjoy it with us.

Ah, Green...Like algae. They will proliferate unless there's enough chlorine in the water to choke a horse!!!
