We were delighted to have a four day visit from Alan's sister Charlotte, nephew Brian, wife Amy, and their children Logan (4) and Brooke (2 ). They came to see us, our "new" house, and to visit with Anna Gamble, who has moved to The Blake, a lovely assisted living place in Kingsport. It was so much fun having them here, especially after our many months of relative seclusion. We hadn't seen them since Christmas, when the "Gamble" clan got together in Huntsville.
Being with them all was enjoyable, but it was a special treat to be able to spend time with the children. I was concerned that we didn't have many toys for them, so their parents brought an assortment of toys from home. However, their imaginative play was fantastic. A magnifying glass with a light on it became a space ship, which Logan "flew" all over the house. Coasters became stacking toys for Brooke. Logan loved playing hide and seek in our large house and checking the temperature of the pool each morning. (It was too cold for swimming.)

While Alan was entrusted to go to Ridgewood for barbeque, the rest of us went to Bay's Mountain Park in Kingsport. It has a lot of animals in large outside habitats, which the children loved seeing. Running was also a highlight for them!

Shelby got jealous and walked over Logan to get to Alan's lap. The children had to be warned about Shelby, and they learned to keep their distance, unless she came to them. |
